The Diehl's part 2

Now that Christmas has came and went, I wanted to share a few more images form the Diehl's Christmas Card shoot. I chose not to share them with the original post because I did not want to spoil their awesome idea for their first Christmas card as a married couple.
This was our own take on an image that Samantha came across...

They wanted to something that captured them and something that was not your normal formal Christmas card pose.  We staged the kitchen for this shoot while Samantha was making an apple pie for our Thanksgiving dinner. While I am not quite certain that this mess would not really have happened if the two of them were baking together, it was a lot of fun to create.

The Diehl Family- First Christmas

I recently had the opportunity to shoot this couple for their first Christmas session as Husband and Wife. We did the session at their newly purchased home in Pennsylvania. Samantha had an image that she wanted to recreate for their Christmas Cards. We had a blast recreating that image. I have chosen not to share the actual image at this time to allow the couple to give their families an opportunity to see it first. I am however sharing a few that led up to the actual image that we were recreating.
Without further adue I give you KGR photography's first Holiday Session of 2015...

A few cute Merry Christmas poses out in front of their home.

Then we headed inside and went to work making a pie in the kitchen.

After the New Year I will share the image that was chosen for their Holiday card.

2015 Holiday Mini Sessions will be here soon

Thanksgiving is just a couple weeks away and with it comes time to remember everything you are thankful for. Of course one of these things is our Families!
Lets celebrate our families this season and capture all of you together.

This years Mini Sessions will be posted the beginning of December. Check back for all the details. Each year I try to offer a little something different. This year will not be any different. This year I have several ideas up my sleeve. This year will prove to be different in many ways then previous years. One more thing to say about this years Mini Sessions... YOU are not going to want to miss out!!

Below is a sample of some of last years Holiday Mini Sessions.

Remember this is just a sample of some of last years shoots. These were all shot at locations that were agreed upon between myself and the families to offer them something unique and different then the other sessions.

Things to come this fall 2015

The leaves are fast changing and falling from the trees. Creating a natural and beautiful back drop for family photos. Do you like to include family photos in your Holiday cards? Want something a little different this year? Step outside of the traditional "studio" photos, and lets get out side and create that something different. The weather is still a little warm and there is still time before all the leaves have fallen!

The weather will soon be cold and there will be snow on the ground. This too, of course always creates a wonderful back ground for family photos. If you want to brave the cold and capture your family in the snow, let me know and we will set a date to create this very idea!

Starting November 10 I will be out on disability for a month, due to surgery to my shoulder.
During this month I will be available for a limited amount of Family sessions. I will be shooting these sessions using a tripod which will limit us to be able to get overly creative... However we still can get that perfect family shot!

As always I try to have a few new locations that I offer each year for these Family Holiday Sessions.
This year will not be any different. I aim to please and of course will take any idea that you have for a location or image that you want to create.

After working in a studio for several years and it closing its doors, I took the step to creating a business that offered the non traditional "studio" photography. Before the studio closed I had one last family session. It was sometime before my family was in front of another photographer's camera, but I knew that I could not put it off anymore.  As I was watching my children grow up and of course capturing them through the years with my own camera, I knew that I needed to let the control go and allow another photographer that control to "shoot" my family. So, I understand how it feels to step away from being the "Family photographer" and allow someone else the control of capturing photos of my family. Over the last 10 years I have allowed that privilege to just a few photographers that I know and was not disappointed with these sessions.  So, with all this being said... If it has been some time since you and your family have had a true family portrait session, relax, and contact me. I will help you create that perfect image you are looking for!

Dates, times, and locations will be posted over the next week. Make sure you check back soon so you do not miss out this year! Of course when the dates are posted and they will not work with your schedule feel free to contact me and we will work out a perfect time for your family.

Kris 2015 Modeling Portfolio

Kristopher came to me not too long ago and stated that he wanted to take some photos to create a portfolio to summit to a few modeling agencies. We sat down and researched some ideas and talked about the look he wanted to create before we went out and took some photos. I suggested that he be creative and do some that were him and showcased his personality as well as doing some that we different and unique. We first headed to downtown Binghamton to take some images of Kris around the Courthouse looking "Studious". I also took him out into the woods to do some more creative images. I wanted to show off a little bit of his athletics as well as use the woods to create some "mellow" and "peaceful" images. We have a few more ideas of some images that we still want to create. Check back soon to see those images too.

I took a few of my favorite images and edited them and added few effects to them. Those images are all below.

I can not decide which of these two are my favorite. I love the top image
with the effect added to it. I added this effect to the image to try and give it an
"old" feel. In the black and white image I love how it makes the wall
look and that it pops the shadow of the lamp post all without taking away
from the subject.

A small twist on the plain old head shot. I wanted a few head shots, I just did not
want  them all the normal head shot used in portfolios. So, while Kris was sitting on
the stairs I zoomed in close and a slightly different angle and "snapped".

This is one of my favorites for the simple fact of the expression on his face.
That expression... well that is his personality and I wanted some of that
in the images so that they were not all "posed".

Into the woods we headed...
We found this log laying there perfectly calling to us to use it.
One of the things that Kris does well are flips and stunts. I tried to tell him
he should consider being a stunt person too. Anyway, when we came across
this tree just laying there I knew just what I wanted him to do. After
a few tries I was able to capture just what I wanted.
To show his strength and his talent in one image!

After the work to create the above image I told him to have a seat and rest
for a moment. I went behind him to capture this image, lost in thought.

As we walked along the trail, I knew what I wanted for one of the images
I was just looking for the perfect spot. I found it! I wanted a spot that
was mostly shaded but had an area where the sun was shining through the
trees creating the perfect spot for him to sit and "meditate". I had him sit
in the spot where the sun was shining through the trees.

I wanted to include a horizontal image as one of my favorites. We were done shooting and heading back out of the woods when we came across this log. It was just sitting there saying "please include me in your image." So, we did. I told him to just have a seat again and be him relax and sit like he was if he was just "hanging out". This is what I captured when he sat and listened to what I asked.

Alyssa Owego Apalachin 2014 Senior Owego, NY

Our plan was to meet at Hickery's Park In Owego. However the park was closed for repairs. So we meet down town Owego and headed to the River Walk. We then headed off to the cemetery, as I heard there was an awesome view there.

Another 2014 Senior Session posted and Shared!!
Send me an email if you are interested in having unique, true to you Senior photos done.

Bailey & Kris Binghamton Prom 2015 Sneak Peek

We saw this collage on Pinterest (https://www.pinterest.com/pin/281545414181939269/)
and wanted to try and recreate it. The kids had fun posing for the shots needed to create the collage. We could not decide if we liked it better in color or black and white. So, I thought that I would share both.

I love looking on Pinterest to find new and fun ideas for photo sessions. I however do not follow the ideas that I find to a "T". That is to ensure that the creative is mine.
So, if there is an idea that you find online somewhere or in a magazine I up for trying to recreate it. Just remember that I will add my own twist to it to make it more unique for you.

Brooklyn- 1 year 2013

Brooklyn belongs to a family that I have had the privilege to see grow. I have known Stacey for a very long time, her and my sister are best friends. I had the opportunity to be a guest at the wedding. I have been helping this family create lasting memories since they were expecting their first little one.

Almost every session we try to create a few images that are similar to big sisters sessions at the same age or season. We of course do not want them to be identical as they are each their own person, as you will see in the following photos.  I think this session we did do a bunch of new things and ideas but there are few that were similar to big sisters.

I bring you Brooklyn and her 1 year session...
and some of her family too

After doing a few photos at the house we headed out to a park not too far from their home.

I love to include the "silly" photos in every session. Or the ones that are not planned. The above collage is one of my favorites. It show cases the girls being them and the dog just hanging out. It is not always easy to get the "perfect" image. Even more difficult when you are working with two subjects under 4 and an animal.
